Squirrel Removal at a Detached Two-Storey Home in Haliburton

Job Overview

Location: Haliburton, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-storey house
Problem: Squirrel activity in attic
Service: Squirrel removal and exclusion
Visits: Two visits

Summary

We addressed reported attic noise consistent with squirrel activity at a detached two-storey home. Our team completed a full roofline inspection, installed humane one-way doors at the identified entry point, and reinforced vulnerable soffit intersections with galvanized steel mesh. A follow-up visit confirmed activity had ceased and all temporary devices were removed.

Background / Property Context

The home features intersecting rooflines and soffit returns, which can create sheltered access points for climbing wildlife. These areas require secure screening to prevent attic entry.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported morning sounds coming from the attic, raising concerns about wildlife presence and potential damage.

Inspection & Findings

An exterior and interior inspection of the roofline identified an active entry point at a soffit intersection. The location showed conditions consistent with repeated wildlife access into the attic space.

Cause Analysis

Squirrels commonly access attics by exploiting gaps at roof and soffit intersections. Elevated rooflines and sheltered junctions provide traction and concealment, allowing repeated entry if not properly screened.

Treatment / Removal

During the first visit, humane one-way doors were installed over the identified soffit intersection to allow squirrels to exit without re-entry. No trapping or lethal measures were used.

Exclusion & Repairs

Approximately twelve feet of soffit intersection were sealed using galvanized steel mesh to reinforce the area and prevent future access. All materials were secured to withstand weather exposure and wildlife pressure.
