Squirrel and Raccoon Removal from Attic – Haliburton

Job Overview

Location: Haliburton, Ontario
Structure: Detached one story house
Problem: Scratching and movement sounds in the attic during morning hours
Service: Squirrel removal
Visits: 2

Summary

Our team completed a two-visit wildlife removal service after reported attic noise consistent with squirrel activity. The work involved identifying roofline entry points, installing species-appropriate one-way doors, securing vulnerable vents, and completing a final inspection to confirm resolution.

Background / Property Context

The property is a detached, single-story residential structure set within a wooded area. Exterior features include multiple roofline intersections, soffit transitions, vents, and an elevated deck structure, all of which can present access opportunities for climbing wildlife.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported recurring sounds in the attic during the morning, raising concerns about active wildlife presence and potential damage to the roof or insulation.

Inspection & Findings

An exterior and interior attic inspection was completed during the first visit. Evidence of wildlife entry was identified at a soft roofline intersection. Activity patterns and physical indicators suggested use by more than one species. Additional vulnerable points included roof and plumbing vents that lacked wildlife-resistant screening.

Cause Analysis

Roofline intersections and soft soffit areas can deteriorate over time and become accessible to climbing wildlife. In wooded environments, squirrels and raccoons commonly investigate these areas for shelter. Once an entry point is established, repeated use by multiple animals can occur.

Treatment / Removal

During the first visit, humane and non-lethal exclusion methods were implemented. One-way doors were installed to allow animals to exit without re-entry. Separate doors were used to account for both squirrel and raccoon activity observed during the inspection.

Exclusion & Repairs

To prevent future access, roof and plumbing vents were sealed using galvanized steel cages. These materials are designed to withstand weather exposure and resist wildlife tampering. All work was completed in accordance with humane wildlife control standards.

Outcome & Confirmation

At the second visit, the homeowner reported that all activity had ceased. Both one-way doors were removed, and a full inspection of the exclusion work was completed. No further wildlife activity was observed or reported, and the service was confirmed complete.
